Home Run Derby Highlights Little League Night

This Saturday the Speedbowl hosts the 3rd annual Little League Night featuring the Sidsvault.com Home Run Derby. Any Little Leaguer wearing their team jersey will be admitted free of charge into the grandstands. The Wiffle ball exhibition will team up 10 of the Speedbowl’s NASCAR Whelen All-American Series drivers with 10 local Little Leaguers in a home run contest on the front stretch at approximately 6:30pm. Grandstands open at 4pm, qualifying at 5pm and features begin at 7pm.

Wild n' Wacky Wednesday Results 5/14/08
Notching his second consecutive Wild n’ Wacky Wednesday Legends feature of the season was Jay Palmer. Early pacesetter Ryan Morgan spun on lap-18 allowing the winner to sneak-by on the inside. Fighting back a green-white-checker challenge from Shaun Buffington, Palmer won by several car lengths. Following was George Whitney, Carl Blandina, and Dennis Pantini. Overall, it marks Palmer’s third victory of the season.
Other Feature winners were Jon Porter (Super X Car), Brad Voglesong (X Car), and Richard “Bubby” Brouwer (X Modified).

Points Major Concern For Speedbowl Competitors
When the final tally is made for the 2008 Waterford Speedbowl SK-Modified championship, May 10 may be one of the keys. Dennis Gada, seeking a record seventh championship, came back from a mid-race crash to finish 10th and hold on to the division point lead.
Gada, who likes being atop the standings, will take an ever-so slim two-point edge on the streaking Keith Rocco into Saturday night’s 35-lap SK feature. It is the headliner of Little League Night at the Speedbowl.

Speedbowl History Book On Sale
Dave Dykes’ Speedbowl 50th anniversary picture book was a major success five years ago. Everybody thought it was a sellout and it became a sought after item. Well, additional copies have surfaced and will be on sale at the Speedbowl concession stand until further notice. The book containsover 250 photos, many of them very rare, divided into five decades. It is a true collectors item.

The New Waterford Speedbowl, in its continued commitment to safety for all of its competitors, has made Fast Track Medical Response Systems Bracelets
Mandatory for all drivers by June 30, 2008. This will involve drivers on both Saturday and Wednesday nights.
The price for 2008 is $39.95 each. Please follow the directions below for the sign-up procedures and more information on the program. After filling out the short registration form your fast track bracelet will be delivered to the Speedbowl for proper distribution. When the New Waterford Speedbowl kicks off its season with the April 12-13 Budweiser Modified Nationals featuring the SK-150, it will mark the 58th consecutive season of auto racing at the three-eights mile oval. Bob Swift won the first ever season opener back on April 15, 1951.
